What if Trump Wins? You Should Eat Clean Tech – CleanTechnica

With the election coming up tomorrow, I see a lot of fear out there. Some of it is very accurate. For example, businesses in Washington, DC, are scrambling to prepare for potential riots. Many people on all sides are gearing up for a nasty election battle that will likely be very physical and possibly include actual battles. All this fear and doom is depressing, no matter what side of this you are on. It’s disappointing. It’s sad.
Perhaps the worst thing I see in the EV and cleantech community (at least those who are not political fans of Elon Musk) is the idea that “it’s over” if the Democrats and Kamala Harris don’t win this election. This idea has some basis in fact, as Trump has made ignorant and negative comments about EVs, wind, and solar, and he himself has made it clear that he wants to destroy clean energy .
But, we’d be fools to assume there’s nothing we can do if Trump manages to get into office (legally or otherwise). In this article, I want to share my reasons that I still have hope not only for clean technology, but for other important things that Trump and his friends want to take away from their get to work.
It Can Happen Here
Before I get to the good stuff, I have one thing to say: it can happen. And no, I’m not just talking about the possibility of fascism when the term was coined by Sinclair Lewis in 1935. I’m talking about the Democrats losing their vote or having it stolen from them.
I’ve seen a lot of people raving about this election and that poll, how the Trump polls are fake, and how the Harris polls are the most scientific and representative polls ever seen. The sad truth is that we really don’t know what will happen. Polls have been wrong, sometimes by large margins, in the past because a changing candidate can find it difficult to find consistent answers to those poll questions.
Don’t think there’s no way Trump can win and try to implement some kind of Agenda 2025 or whatever he’s pointing out this week. Wishful thinking is no substitute for planning.
The Constitution Is Designed to Resist Anarchic Government
The first thing to remember when thinking about how to deal with Trump’s success and subsequent actions against clean technology is that the Constitution was designed not to destroy. There is not only a trick and ignore process, but there are other elements that can be used to deny illegal and illegal access to the president’s power to destroy EVs, solar, wind and technology of the battery.
The biggest one is federalism. The federal government is not superior to the states in all matters. It is only within certain specified powers that the federal government can be legally purchased. For everything else, the states are responsible (as long as they follow their own constitutions and don’t violate individual rights as defined in the Fourteenth Amendment and the Bill of Rights which the Fourteenth Amendment imposed on the states after the Civil War).
This means that while red states may pollute, tax EVs, and try to catch the economic game for fuel, the economic pressure of states like California continues to support clean technology. it’s still real, and it can be used against people like Trump. .
If you want more detailed information on the ways in which an existing system can be tamper resistant, I recommend reading the excellent piece from. Inside EVs Here.
Fighting for Multiple Choices Saps Political Capital
If Trump wins after a bitter, contested election, he will not enter the Oval Office unscathed politically. With so many people questioning his credibility, people angry at the mistakes made during the legal battles, and perhaps even anger at the violence directed at Trump, he would be the envy of the cat herder when it comes to welfare. of work.
With such limited support, it can be very difficult to get people to play football. Congress would be difficult to work with. Firing people from government agencies and replacing them with honest people would lower the efficiency of such agencies, making them not only bad at their intended jobs, but bad at carrying out Trump’s agenda. Getting countries and even citizens at large to willingly cooperate with government agencies can be a tough sell behind something like that.
Effective Resistance
Before I can talk about what to do to stop Trump from destroying clean tech in 2024, 2025, and beyond, I must first discuss a little-known fact about how he was stopped by 2020 and early 2021. It was no accident that his attempt to steal the election while in office failed. There was a strong effort by unions, businesses, and the Democratic Party to deny him what he desperately needed to get rid of it.
I recommend reading the link above, but in short, what he needed was violence. He needed riots, burning cities, and maybe people shooting each other in the streets like what happened earlier in 2020. If that happened, he would have a reason to use the Law of Rebellion to cheat and “stop stealing” by force. But, without such violence and riots, he knew he would not escape.
With no wind in his sails, he could not go anywhere. Powerful people and even the media turned against him one by one when it became clear that almost no one would stand behind him. The only violence he could punish was on January 6, but because it was a riot on his side, it did not give him political capital or popular support. needed to draw anything. In fact, it ended up being his undoing.
Obviously, 2024 is very different. Trump is not in the White House and does not have any emergency powers that can be abused. But, if he returns to office, he hopes that there will be riots in the streets, which he has threatened to use the Sedition Act against the government, to strengthen his power to abandon the limits of the constitution. in his power.
If he takes office, a key part of preventing him from undermining the system that prevents presidents from becoming emperors is denying him the justification to use emergency powers. Events that can be turned into riots by instigators should be carefully planned, but it may be better not to organize them at all, especially if roadblocks are involved.
Things like protests, riots and violence may sound good, but we’d better save such things for proper self-defense if the evil system starts being violent with us ( a step that would destroy any remaining right). Instead, using the power of states, using economic power, and using non-violent non-violent methods, such as “System D” and other anti-economic ones, would be better.
In short, the idea is to oppose and despise without giving them what they need: the moral high ground that comes from being able to play the victim (something Trumpism always strives for).
Ultimately, the oppressor who wants to face offensive resistance that fails to make him a victim will either have to retreat and preserve the power he has or raise the profile of his violence. But, like a cockroach alien Black Menhe responded by affirming the challenge of “Me!” it can have negative consequences.
